Ohana in Kauai, Day 14
Another two beach day! First we (me, Momi, Malia, Kaylee, Lani, Tim, Nicole, Sara, Ruth, and John) went to Ke’e beach in the morning to do a little snorkeling. While there we saw some green sea turtles. We were limited to taking photos with a film camera since the underwater digital camera refused to take photos under water. So we’ll have to wait until the film is developed to see if the pictures are usable. If so I will be adding photos of trigger fish, a humuhumunukunukapua’a, the green sea turtles, angel fish, a box puffer fish, a cool black eel with tons of orange spots, and some other very interesting fish!
While we were at Ke’e Beach, Zac, Nana, and Papa headed to Waimea Canyon. Our friend Lani told them to meet her family in Kekaha as they were having a big family party at the church. Turns out it was a party for Vacation Bible School graduation and they arrived just as they were packing up to leave. Her sister had already left the party because she needed to study for a test. So with great aloha they unpacked the food and fed Zac, Nana, and Papa, while talking story with Lani’s brother-in-law. Boy is Lani going to get the stink eye when we see her! LOL!
Tim, Lani, and Nicole returned to the house and the rest of our party headed to Lumahai Beach. Lumahai is one of very favorite beaches. It gets pretty rough during the winter, but during the summer the waves come rolling in and rock you back and forth as you bob up and down in the ocean. It’s a bit difficult to get to, so it’s generally not too crowded. The Malia, Kaylee, Sarah, Ruth, and John had a great time jumping off one of the big lava rocks and into the ocean.
I’ve added a few pictures Zac took on his trip to Waimea Canyon.
