Ohana in Kauai, Day 15, Last Day in Paradise
Papa, Nana, Zac, Tim, Lani, Nicole, and Jacob left the house around 9am to catch their flight to Honolulu, where they will be staying for three days. The flight for the remainder of our party didn’t leave until 6:43pm. So we grabbed our beach towels and boogie boards and headed down the street to Hanalei Bay. We spent the morning working on our tans and riding a few waves on the boogie boards.
We grabbed a quick lunch at Bubba Burgers, which I highly recommend! You’ll want to get there before you are hungry because the lines can be long and they cook using Hawaiian time. Meaning, they are not in a hurry. They’re not necessarily slow, just not in a big hurry.
Then it was off to Lihue to catch a plane. Our first stop was the pier in Hanalei to throw our leis into the ocean. The Hawaiian tradition is if your leis reach the beach you will return to the islands. A few of us wanted to cheat and throw our leis about two feet from the beach! Next was the required stop at the ABC Store where we all picked up a few souvenirs (chocolate covered macadamia nuts, Kona coffee, t-shirts, etc) for those who couldn’t make the trip.
Photos will be posted a bit later…
